Moorings Northland has been the trusted name for expert mooring services since 1984. Founded by Opua residents Ian and Merle Mounsey with a commitment to safety and quality, the business has grown into the leading provider of mooring inspections and servicing in the Bay of Islands and along Northland’s east coast.
Rob Lang acquired the business in 2011, applying his expertise in management and customer-focused service. Rob introduced new operational standards and technologies that reshaped mooring servicing in Northland. He also brought in detailed customer reports, improved mooring inspection processes and in 2016 launched our ground-breaking Lifter II barge.
Current owner Jon Hill has been as the helm since 2025. Our Moorings Northland team continues to build on improvements in service quality, operational efficiency, and safety. From barge skipper to office crew, we are committed to providing Northland with swing mooring services of the very highest standard.
We are proud to service over 70% of the moorings along Northland’s east coast, and of our growing reputation for trust, innovation, and reliability.
